Women Of Sydney Parkour

Women of Sydney Parkour (WoSP) was established in March 2017. Since it was created, it has grown both in the number and diversity of its members, but also in its contributions to the wider parkour community. Over the years we have created and promoted safe spaces for women to train and organised events to inspire and bring together women from different communities.

If you want to know a little more about what WoSP has done in the past, here is a summary of what we've worked on over the years.

Sydney Women's Jams 2017-2018

From 2017-2018 WoSP ran bimonthly training jams to encourage women in the Sydney community to train parkour in a friendly, non-competitive environment. These jams encouraged many women who had previously only trained indoors, or who had stopped training to join in with the more active community members in training outdoors.

Nat Gat 2018

Nat Gat is Australian Parkour’s annual National Gathering. WoSP hosted the 2018 Nat Gat in Sydney, with more than 200 traceurs in attendance from both interstate and overseas. WoSP organised a community barbeque and a variety of workshops free to the public with industry experts, including specialist parkour workshops, injury prevention, strength and conditioning, self-defense, photography & videography masterclasses.

Female Athletes at Jump Off 2019

In 2019, for the first time ever, two female international parkour athletes were able to attend the annual Jump Off event held by Australia’s premiere parkour gym, AAPES.

This was made possible with WoSP’s organization and fundraising. The community impact of having Hikari Izumi & Saskia Neville representing women in the participation and judging of competitions and leading workshops was immeasurable, and has since inspired further female participation in upcoming parkour events.
