Frequently Asked Questions

What is Wam Jam?

Wam Jam is the annual Australian Women's Parkour Gathering. It started in Sydney in 2015 and has been hosted in a different city each year since, including Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. This year, it's back in Sydney! Wam Jam generally consists of a series of open outdoor and indoor training, workshops and our annual Wam Jam talk, where we discuss challenges unique to women and minority groups in parkour and how they can be moderated.

How much does it cost to attend?

We've tried our hardest to cater to everyone, so the event is free! The only events which require payment are $10 to take part in event shirt DIY's to cover our materials cost and Sydney Olson's Freerunning Workshops which require a donation upon registration. However, to make sure everyone can get involved, the donation is of an amount that the participant chooses.

If you're travelling from interstate or overseas and need to keep your stay low budget, please contact us via email or private message our Instagram page and we'll try our best to link you up with a local Sydney traceuse to be hosted.

Is Wam Jam open to internationals?

Absolutely! Wam Jam is the annual is the Australia national women's gathering but we would love to see more internationals attending our event. Send us an email and if you'd like to be hosted by a local and we'll try our best to get you all set up. We already have traceuses flying in from the US, Philippines and New Zealand so we'd love to see more of you! Please also stick around before or after the event if you can so you can pack in some more jumps down under.

Is Wam Jam open to men?

Short answer = Yes. While all of our open jams are open to men, there are restrictions on which workshops and activities can be joined. The primary aim of Wam Jam is to encourage female participation in parkour and men can easily dominate a spot and create an intimidating environment without intending to. Some events such as our BBQ and discussion, we highly encourage men to attend as the impacts of men on women's parkour is a big topic that can be navigated more progressively with input from  both sides.

Check the red and purple notes in the Full Itinerary for details on which events you are restricted from joining. Don't be discouraged, there's open jamming for everyone all day, everyday and an open gender workshop with Sydney Olson that you should definitely be registering for.
