Mapping for Parkour

Started and led by members of Women of Melbourne Parkour, the Victorian Parkour Map is a collaboratively produced resource with information about places to play and train. Intended to be as inclusive as possible, it includes detailed information on safety, accessibility and amenities, so that it can be useful to a diverse range of community members. In this session, organisers will present the beta map and share their insights from leading the project, including what’s worked and what’s been challenging. We’ll also open up for questions and discussion from participants – we’re keen to hear of people’s reactions and of any similar projects around the country.

How to get qualified as a parkour coach

The 'next step' for a lot of people who train parkour is to become a parkour coach or instructor. Many women and non-binary folk can be at a disadvantage, as we often have fewer role models like us. This talk will help you understand how to become a coach through the Australian Parkour Association's qualifications, which is one option. In this talk, Liam, the current president of the APA, will discuss the structure of those qualifications, how to approach training and studying for them, as well as general advice on making the transistion to a coaching or leadership role.
